Natyalaya School of Classical Dances was founded in 1964 under the direction of Shrimathi Kalamandalam Sumathi in Kerala, India.
In Brazil it started in 1996 when Sumathi Teacher invited her disciple Patricia Madhusudanan to take care of the Brazilian branch.

Kalamandalam Sumathi is a well-known Classical Indian dance exponent. With disciples spread all over the world, Sumathi teacher as always the case spreads her knowledge on Indian Classical Dances through love and dedication, indistinctly to all people, demonstrating that cultures have no boundaries.
Besides its headquarters in Perumbavoor Kerala, India Natyalaya has another branches in Kerala State in India and outside India in United Arab Emirates, in Brazil and more recently also in Mozambique, Africa.
